The word “retrograde” may be unsettling to some people — it is commonly known as a difficult time for communication and relationships. However, it is helpful to also consider the opportunity for growth and transformation during retrograde seasons. When a planet is in retrograde it appears to move across the night sky in a reverse motion.

April is a month of outer planets going into retrograde, starting with Jupiter in Sagittarius on the 10th, Pluto in Capricorn on the 24th, and finally Saturn in Capricorn on the 29th. These planets won’t station direct for a few months so here is some advice that might prove helpful:
Jupiter is commonly known as a symbol of luck and hope. While in its home constellation, Sagittarius, optimism may come easily. However, be careful and slow down the risk-taking and evaluate before rushing or overindulging in anything. Perhaps revisit an old favorite place or prior work.
One of Saturn’s key words is “duty.” When Saturn goes into retrograde, it could prove useful to practice self-discipline and not worry much about instant gratification.
When Pluto is in retrograde, it’s advisable to reflect on our adaptation to changes and transformations. Exploring your “shadow side” is encouraged. This includes delving into and addressing old fears and addictive patterns. Try decluttering your home, and avoid unhealthy situations and individuals.
On June 21st the sun enters Cancer, marking the beginning of the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Themes related to Cancer include the moon, mother, family, and home. A new moon in Cancer on July 2nd may make these themes more prominent in one’s life — this is a good time to practice forgiveness and understanding without resentment.
A solar eclipse will also accompany the summer solstice on June 21st, and Neptune will enter into retrograde in its home planet of Pisces. These watery transits can be a spiritually enhancing experience. Be sure to take some time to daydream — these transits will favor ideas and projections that develop through dreams.
This summer almost all of the outer planets will go into retrograde and allow for a time period for personal reflection and growth. It may be difficult and painful to be introspective and break behavioral habits, but ultimately it will be rewarding in spiritual growth. Good luck y’all.
